Meeting Venue

The meeting venue is at Cascade Room, which is on the lower level of Haggett Hall, 4000 15th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98105, on University of Washington campus, Seattle. The UW campus is located 7 miles north from downtown and 25 miles north of the SeaTac International Airport.

Transportation to the Campus from SeaTac airport

Link Light Rail Train (LLR): can be taken directly from the airport. The SeaTac Airport Station is connected to the 4th floor of the airport parking garage. Trains arrive and depart every 7.5 - 15 minutes. The station to get off is Westlake station, which is the last station (traveling time takes about 45 minutes). Then transfer in the same tunnel station platform to a Metro 71, 72, or 73 express bus (about 20 minute ride). The first UW bus stop begins at Alder Commons. Note that the LLR runs from 5 am to 1 am Monday through Saturday and 6 am to midnight on Sundays. Check the website, http://www.soundtransit.org/Schedules/Link-light-rail for latest info.

A ticket is required for each provider, the Link Light Rail (can be bought at the airport or downtown going the other way from automatic vending machines), and the Metro Bus (can be paid with cash for exact fare only; current fares are $2.50 non-commuting hours and $2.75 from 6 to 9 am and from 3 to 6 pm). Rates may change, please check before beginning your travel.

Shuttle Express provides shared ride and door-to-door services from the airport. Prices are about $38 per ride (plus tip), if you book a round trip there might be a slight discount for booking your return trip in advance (so, please check their website , www.shuttleexpress.com). Travel time is about 30-40 minutes, depending on how many other passengers are sharing the ride.

Taxi: can be hired from the airport. Taxi stands are located on the 3rd floor of the parking garage.

Lyft and Uber provide smartphone car services. Please download their apps from the corresponding websites, www.lyft.com and www.uber.com/cities/seattle# to use their services.

Seattle is also served by Amtrak. The newly renovated King Street Station serves Amtrak trains, as well as Amtrak buses from Vancouver, BC, Eugene and Portland, OR, Spokane and Vancouver, WA and other locations. Check for rates on http://www.amtrak.com

If you plan to drive, parking is available on the UW Campus (currently $15 until 6 pm, with an additional $5 for the evening. Parking on Saturday morning is $5, free in the afternoon unless there is a big sports event). Housing

The new West Campus Dorms are our recommended lodging and can be reserved on the Reservation page. The buildings are new and convenient to the meeting venue locations.

Nevertheless the walk can still take about 15 minutes, please prepare extra time and follow the route on the map to Haggett Hall.

Other options are available, however, transportation to and from those locations is not provided by ES2015. Please make reservations directly with the hotels.

Hotels located in the University District.

The University Inn, 4140 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98108. Complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon cupcakes, WIFI and overnight guest parking are available.

Another closeby hotel is Watertown Hotel, but apparently it is currently quite booked. Their toll free is 1-866-944-4242.

The other two hotels in the district are: Hotel Deca, 206-634-2000, on Brooklyn Ave NE and NE 45th St (about 7 blocks away) and the Silver Cloud Inn, 206-526-5200, on the University Village shopping mall on the other side of campus (about a mile away, they have a periodic shuttle to the campus and it is very easy to bicycle from there to the conference venue).

We encourage everyone to make reservations as soon as possible.
